Welcome to Righands!
Unlike any other oilfield website, Righands is meant strictly for the men and women grinding their days out on the rigs.
Through this webpage, users will find not only equipment, job postings and field-related news, but will also discover one-of-a-kind technology and a place to share your own story.
"People don't know what really goes on in the oil fields," said Brian Whitney, co-owner of Righands. "But we do."
"We want this site to cater to these workers and their jobs."
Righands first became an idea back in 2009.
Long-time friends Whitney - a computer wizard - and Jody Patzer - a 26-year industry veteran and rig manager - began talks of building a website catered to the oilfield worker.
With Patzer's hands-on experience in the industry and Whitney's skills to craft a user-friendly website, the pair had the perfect plan.
"We plan to focus on the rig hand - the people with the dirty hands," said Whitney.
"We wanted to be unique - offer equipment and job postings but also think, is there really a site for oilfield workers?"
There is now, thanks to Righands.
After years of strategic planning and countless meetings, Righands was finally launched in January 2012 and offers unique services that can't be found anywhere else.
Oilfield workers in Alberta can now log onto Righands.com and find supplies nearest their location - all for free and at the click of a button.
The tool is called GPS Search, a unique program designed by Whitney and Patzer that allows workers to type in their location, no matter how remote, and quickly track down supplies.
Based on your location, the search will pull up a list of near-by companies that carry the requested supplies such as water trucks, hotels and more.
"It's a brand new service," said Whitney. "It's going to save these oil companies a lot of time and money."
The site also allows workers to post resume's as well as find essential information about events and equipment.
Coming soon, the site will feature a "Toys for Boys," section where workers can catch a break to gawk over big toys including motorcycles.
Have a story you want to share? The boys want to hear it.
